Giving its famous chocolate covered biscuit something of a makeover, Kit Kat manufacturer Nestle has come up with this rather novel cherry blossom variety.
But before you question the introduction of a spring themed product in the middle of winter, its arrival is timed to perfectly coincide with the commencement of school entrance examinations; the humble snack having become something of a lucky charm of late, its name sounding very similar to the Japanese for ‘definitely win’ (click here for a more detailed explanation).
A phrase that may ultimately ring hollow for many Kit Kat recipients, but not, one can safely assume, for Nestle.

What a yummy flavor! I wish we have more variety in candy selection in Canada… I can’t wait til I go to Japan to have access to this and more.

I had one last weekend – rather nice, but the cherry flavour might be a touch strong. I’ve also got a strawberry one awaiting consumption, and we’re halfway through a bag of fun-pack size grape KitKats, which are extremely nice.
The special winter Melty Kisses have also been lovely, and I’m a huge fan of Calbee special edition crisps – now there’s a monetisable blog niche, JapaneseSweeties.com, if that hasn’t already been grabbed by a pr0n site!

Cherry, huh? Interesting… (the strawberry ones Ken Y-N mentioned sound good, though!)
In the States, we had orange creme Kit Kats and strawberry creme Hershey bars come out over the summer (when both fruits are in season). They were both okay, like a poor man’s gourmet, fruit-flavored chocolate.

Have a break! Have a Kitkat!
I shall buy one of those when I get back to Japan next Monday.

Cherry blossom smells good, so it MUST taste good! 😛

Here’s hoping they taste more like cherries than blossoms.
I hate to sound like a Negative Nancy, but I spotted two fragment sentences in this post… in a row! Your 5th grade teacher would be sad.

Kit Kats are about as close as I’ve seen to a traditional chocolate bar in Japan. I really want a Mars bar.

Apart from Cadburys Fruit & Nut chocolate should remain plain flavoured, its Wrong stop it now!!

Kakko ii ne?! Oishiso. I don’t know how well those would sell in the states though…

Very interesting concept to have considered. Marketing genius? We shall see.
