Captain Jack Sparrow, in Tokyo, in a train station
A pirate he may be, but in Tokyo, Captain Jack Sparrow has to cobble together his pieces of eight just like all the other commuters, and travel to work by train.
Wow. That is THE best Sparrow I’ve seen รขโฌโ and the bar at our station (ShinUrayasu) has a pirate theme to it and the owner, till this point, won the prize. Good grief.
I assume he’s the Jack Sparrow from Disney Sea? If he is, I’m surprised DS let their staff travel to and from work in character, especially as he’s a fair way from Urayasu, judging from the Seibu train!
What sort of reaction was he getting from other commuters? I ask because he has that “I know you’re all looking at me, but I’m blocking you out” introspective look on his face!
No, he can’t be. I’ve seen him leaving on the same train from Shinjuku several times in the past. And the day I took this photo, he was just arriving at about 3pm.
When I took this photo, rather bizarrely he was barely getting a second glance from other travelers. The times when I’ve seen him on the train, however, people’s initial reaction was one of shock. Watching everyone do a double take as they got on the train was interesting to see.
I’ve been told about this fella before, but I’m sure it’s a different person. Close up they do look different, plus I’ve seen the Jack Sparrow above numerous times รขโฌโ always arriving and leaving Seibu Shinjuku station.
If I am right, I’d like to know if they’ve ever met!

Pretty impressive outfit, isn’t it? I’ve seen him a few times before –actually on the train — and it’s a surreal sight for sure.

That was the first thing that came to mind for me as well. But I agree with Lee that he’s probably just a “civilian.”
When we took the kids to Disneyland a couple year ago, the Capt. Jack there was having way too much fun, or so it seemed.
ameiji says
Maybe he’s a blogger like Danny The Tokyo Stormtrooper ๐
genkichannz says
Not the DisneySea guy? That IS a surprise! Maybe he just likes the look! Or he’s heading out to the bar at ShinUrayasu to show up the owner…
L. says
At first glance, he bears some resemblance to Johnny Depp. At the second, he has a really sad expression on his face.
Lee says
My guess is he’s going to work, and despite the pirate outfit, he’s probably like most people and would rather be doing something else.
tasha says
Man wanted to feel like a pirate.
This is probably healthy.

Next time I’m in Tokyo I’m going to be very sad if I don’t see him.
I wonder what he does. Maybe he gets to the office, whips the outfit off and he’s a salaryman.
Lee says
That’s the big question.
Seibu Shunjuku Station is the best please to see him from my experience.
Ank1 says
Ha, brilliant!
Shizuo says
Looks like the original Captain Jack Sparrow, Nice outfit!
WP says
Wow, he definitely looks awfully like the real Jack Sparrow!
Miriam says
I honestly thought he was Johnny Depp, there is such a likeness.
Lee says
Yes, he’s pretty convincing. It’s no quickly cobbled together look that’s for sure.

lolz…now i know the woman from the previous post was running away or towards him
Lee says
Haha! Quite possibly!

He manages a bar about 5 minutes walk from Nakano Station in Tokyo. One cool guy.
