A young couple lit up by the sun, and by simply being with each other.

What a beautiful picture. I’m glad you chose to do this in black and white:) it’s really interesting how we can barely see the swarm of people in the far background.
Lee will you be venturing out to see anything related to the new emperor? Sorry for my lack of knowledge about this subject, but will anything be taking place at the shrine you often visit with all the nationalists? Either way I hope you have a lovely holiday.
Thank you! It worked much better in black and white for me too. It made the couple stand out much more.
My knowledge is just as lacking. Did a search the other day, but apart from an appearance from the emperor at the weekend, there doesn’t seem to be a lot going on. Well, in public anyway. And considering what the crowds will be like when he does make that appearance, I shall stay well away!
Cheers. A mixture of work and time off, so not a bad Golden Week. Hope yours is a good one too!
This really is a beautiful photograph. The couple seem to light each other as much as the scene lights them.
It would make a good basis for a film poster.
Good to see a young Japanese man get out and about with a lady on his arm. There’s talk that young men in Japan don’t socialize much, many don’t have relationships, glad to see he’s found love with a real person.
Yeah, it was genuinely lovely to see then together. Being able to photograph that moment felt like a real treat.
I’ve read that stuff as well. There’s clearly some truth in it too. But I do think it might have been overblown somewhat. Being regularly out and about would seem to suggest that anyway. Plenty of young couples to be seen. And perhaps more importantly, plenty of happy looking young couples.

Thanks. Saw them walking up, so it was just a matter of waiting and then hoping they would walk in the right spot, which thankfully they did!

Thank you. Yeah, they were so happy just to be together. I spotted their bright smiles a long way away.
