After more than ten years in Tokyo, and even though coming across one really isn’t that uncommon, the sight of a kimono is still something quite special: a window to another world perhaps, or at least a glimpse into one that has long since gone.
Kimono and ocarina combinations on the other hand are considerably less common.
The surprising sight and sound of which was not only pleasing for those passing by.
But also the immaculately clothed player herself.
Linette says
She’s fantastic. Did she just show up out of the blue and start playing? Or was she part of something broader happening?
Lee says
No, she was just there by herself and hoping to sell CDs to those that were interested. She may well have been asked to play as it’s an area famous for its soba shops and temple, but that’s only speculation. But either way, she added something extra to the already nice vibe of the place.
Matt says
Great. The audio really adds to the photo. What did you record it with?
Lee says
Cheers Matt. It was one of the few times times that I actually remembered to make a recording. I really should do it more often.
Oh, and it was recorded with the iPhone. Straight to AudioBoo. A service/application that in my opinion really should get more credit that it seems to do.
Lizzy says
The audio and picture combination is simply breathtaking. I wouldn’t think such an upbeat tune could be so relaxing.
Lee says
Glad you liked it Lizzy. Quite a jolly little ditty isn’t it?
K says
Really beautiful, the recording makes this post 🙂
Lee says
Thanks K!
Like I said to Matt above, I really need to make more recordings, as I totally agree, they add so much to a post.
Jeanette says
Thanks for this. The tune she played was really wonderful, and what a mood-lifter. Was the accompaniment from another musician, or a cd?
Lee says
You are welcome Jeanette.
The accompaniment was from a speaker/iPod combo. Quite a contrast to her traditional clothing and instrument!
