Right, I think they just wanted to make sure that nobody mistook it for a ‘pretty plain chapel’ and stuck that name on it. 🙂
I found a youtube video so we can also see a little bit of the inside of this happy clappers church: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0eEgvBT2fs
Saw this beautiful chapel on the train – Joban line, not managed to snap the photo, did a bit of google and found here, thanks for sharing and took the picture for me three years ago.

Yes, lovely really is pushing it a bit, isn’t it?
Excellent. Hadn’t even though about looking for a video or images of the inside. Cheers. Very interesting, and not at all what I would have expected.

Even having lived in Japan for 5 years, that may be the first modern church I’ve ever seen. Certainly the largest

Rare things eh? And yes, even rarer to see them as large as this one.

Some research shows that it’s in Toride, Ibaraki. It’s most lovely part of the country.
Lee says
Yeah, went up there for a few days. Enjoyed it. Found a few interesting things too; the lovely chapel being one of them.

I’ve been through Moriya many times but sadly not yet through Toride itself. I’ve heard that it’s lovely though.
