After finally receiving my new iPhone, it’s a fond farewell to its trusty, but at the same time far from fast, forerunner. A once cutting edge piece of kit that only had a life-span as long as this ladybird that for some reason really rather liked it.

Perhaps the bug is trying to make a phone call?

amazing shot! or i guess that would be seen as good fortune running your way here in japan ๐ how is the new iphone? im still trying to find an excuse to break away from my docomo plan. i look forward to seeing more or your work taken with the new phone!
cheers!

Thanks C. Upgrading from the 3G, it’s a huge improvement. The screen is much better and it’s a lot lot faster. I’m biased though as a fan of Apple stuff, but in Japan, where the choice of handsets isn’t that appealing (through my foreign eyes at least), the iPhone is the only choice. That said, Softbank’s coverage isn’t anywhere near as good as that of DoCoMo.

I hear the new iPhone has a lot of bugs, but this is ridiculous!

Damn, I wish I’d thought of that…

Are there any Apple sponsorships for this blog? I understand that you like your new and old Apple gadgets, but I visit apple.com if i want to see images of their products -.-
Lee says
I’d be more than happy if there was Christian, but no, there isn’t. And, as much as I like Apple products, what I wrote wasn’t exactly 100% complimentary.

k ๐ sorry…
“The failure of Apple’s iPhone to mesmerise the Japanese mobile phone market may, among other things, mean that many consumers don’t want easy-to-use and intuitive machines รขโฌโ instead preferring the clunky and cumbersome menus they have been managing with for many moons now.”
and other stuff sometimes seems to be a bit overenthusiastic to me ;). But I don’t like Apple at all – which isn’t very objective either.
btw I love your blog and the wonderful photos you take ๐

Thanks! And no need for apologies. I am a bit of an Apple fanboy…
I do find it interesting the love/hate relationship many people have with Apple. There really doesn’t seem to be any middle ground does there?
As much as I like their products though, they really are the masters at not only making your old product seem old and obsolete, but often downright prehistoric. That’s what hit me with the ladybird and phone. They really do share a very similar lifespan.

Make sure you hold it correctly.

I’ve tried to replicate the issue, but without success/failure. I read somewhere that the network is different here and so the problem doesn’t exist, but I’m not sure if that’s true or not.
