Most of Tokyo’s subway entrances are functional rather than photogenic, which partly explains my ongoing appreciation of this old, previously posted little spot. However, that’s not to say all the modern variants are uninspiring, as this beautiful beacon of urban light amply proves.

Oh man there is sooo much to like about this. I think it’s my favorite of all your pics! 🙂
Lee says
Thank you. I had to wait a little while for the right person to walk by, but very happy with the result.

What a wonderful picture! I would absolutely love to frame this and hang it on my wall:) I suppose you’re not into that kind of business are you Lee?:) but if you ever do sell your work, I would love this. the colors, the cirlcles and straight lines, all the depth…..awesome.
Lee says
Thanks a lot. Everything works together vey nicely, doesn’t it? Would certainly be a lot less interesting without those lovely circles on the pavement.
Most of my photos are sold for magazine and editorial related stuff, but I do actually sell photographs for prints. Only the full-sized digital version at the moment though, rather than an actual print itself. Allows the buyer the option of any size, paper etc, plus to be perfectly honest I haven’t done the necessary research in regards somewhere to regular get them printed. If that sounds ok to you, just let me know.

That definitely sounds good to me. Would you mind emailing me the details? Hopefully it will work out well:) thank you again
Lee says
Not at all. Good to hear that would work for you.
I’ll be in touch over the weekend.

This is such a cool scene and atmosphere. I really like it! )

Cheers. A scene I like too. Found it by chance in the daytime and hoped it would look interesting at night. Happy to say it massively exceeded my expectations!

I’ve been following you since the beginning, and this one is your best. Stunning…
Lee says
Thanks for sticking with me!
Thanks very much for the kind words too. It was interesting. I knew straight away it would make a good photo, but ‘cos I had to wait for the right person to enter the frame, the sense of immediately knowing I had something special wasn’t there like it is with some street shots. Needless to say though it was a nice feeling when I saw it on the big screen!

This really is a gem of photograph. Even when found amongst the Aladdin’s Cave of treasure you share with us it stands out as something special.
Is it the A18 entrance? I’m sure I’ve looked down on it on my way to the station and back. That pavement doesn’t stretch far from the station but is quite mesmerising to walk over.
The lighting, the lone salaryman (in one of the busiest parts of the city), and the perfect pair of shoes. What a composition.
And on top of that it’s a view and location thats amongst the most well known for me, as that’s close to the hotel we’ve used in the past.
69 days to go before our next visit 🙂
Lee says
Thank you very much. Without a doubt one I’m very pleased with. Everything I hoped for, and a little more really in regards the lone salaryman.
Yes, that’s the one. To be honest, it’s a part of Shinjuku I don’t really go to, but I was scouting the view from the nearby overpass, and spying the entrance, thought it might have potential at night. Even then I really didn’t expect it to look quite as appealing as it does.
68 days as I write this. Not long at all!

This is so amazing!!!! It gives me a kind of Wong Kar-Wai feeling. And I say that as a compliment.
