It’s now two weeks since the earthquake and tsunami devastated Japan; a disaster that continues to inflict untold misery upon those people directly affected, and is never far from the minds of those who weren’t.
News from elsewhere, however, along with media outlets seemingly all out of sensationalist stories, means that coverage is very quickly dwindling, yet reminders of that horrible day, and its ongoing repercussions, are everywhere — even in long-closed bars down little side streets.

There used to be a club infront of my Condo in Waikiki called “Wave Waikiki” and it had a big..BIG version of this famous piece. They got sued by someone and had to paint over it though.
Lee says
I suppose it’s fair enough they had to paint over it, but suing them seems a bit excessive doesn’t it?!

Imai of the band Buck-Tick mention an e-mail he received which stated a group who fled Fukushima were being seated in “special” areas in a restaurant & someone apparently wanted them labeled in some way so everyone would know from where they came. Quite disappointing to read.
Lee says
I haven’t heard anything about that. Do you have a link?
Lyn says
I saw a translation of it here: http://blog-tick.blogspot.com/2011/03/24032011-march-24th-thursday-email.html
His own blog is: http://blog.buck-tick.com/blog/

I don’t remember seeing that many bunnies in the recent news reports. Then again, I don’t remember much actual news being in the recent news reports, either…

I didn’t beven notice it was a ‘bunny’ version at first… But yeah, there may as well have been bunnies involved considering all the other misinformation passed off as news in the last two weeks.

Lovely, ironically.
