There is no shortage of stunning and wonderfully dated old shop signs in Tokyo. In fact, there are some I like so much that I’ve created a series dedicated to them on my portfolio site. And yet even in such rarefied company, the peeling and prominent name above this restaurant still stands out.

Yep. That’s one awesome looking store sign. I also like the inclusion of the owner opening for another day. Very cool. 🙂
Lee says
Cheers. Got there at just the right time. And yeah, it’s quite something to say the least.
Richard says
With a sign like that I might have thought the place was not in business. Must have some loyal customers.
Lee says
Yeah, certainly wouldn’t be surprising. It’s very near to a large shrine which presumably helps when it comes to customers. And with a sign like that, hopefully few people can resist going inside.
Richard says
Location, location, location…along with some decent food!!
Lee says
Yes, very much so.
Paul says
Great photos as usual.
The shop in these has the same name (Kadoya) as the one in the first photo of your Kyoto post of a few days ago. If it is a chain-restaurant it badly needs some investment!
Lee says
Thanks a lot.
That’s a very good call. Hadn’t picked up on that. And yes, let’s hope that’s not the case!
