This wonderfully old tofu shop has appeared on these pages before. On my Instagram account several times as well. But when a store front looks as fantastic as this one does, then resisting further photographs is utterly futile.
And if that wasn’t enough, a peek inside proves that both the owner, and interior, are equally intriguing.

Wow! Something is mesmerizing about this buildings front. The fact that it seems to be leaning in two separate directions? Or the old fading wood? Wonderful:)
Lee says
Yeah, it really is a wonderful sight. The sign, the leaning, the colours. Everything really. Always a treat to walk past it.
YTSL says
Are the leaning/crooked bits due simply to age or because it’s survived an earthquake or more? :O
Lee says
No idea to be honest. Age is obviously a major factor, but earthquakes could well be a contributing element.

Awesome shots of a very cool store! 🙂
Lee says
Thank you. With a building as interesting as this, it’s hard to go wrong to be honest.

I’m so glad I found your blog again! I started reading it years ago but somehow lost touch with it along the way. I never forgot about the scarecrows though lol!
Lee says
Thanks, that’s good to hear. Well, finding this again that is, not the scarecrows!

Photographs such as this make me want to visit Japan even more!
Lee says
I can completely understand that. Places like this are what encourage me to get out and about every time I can.

It is so cool to see your photographs of these old establishments – and with such great resolution. That is an amazing shop, and area. Having a gmap enabled scoot up and down that street there are so many interesting buildings. A five story one with an approx 2x10m footprint caught my eye. And all the while the skytree is visible when you look down the street. Bookmarked for a future explore 🙂

Very good to hear.
This shop is very special. One I never tire of seeing, or photographing. And yeah, it’s an interesting area. Definitely worth exploring.
