Whilst the nation shakes its head in disbelief, its leader celebrates. As judging by his recent comments, the Prime Minister is a happy man indeed this evening.
“I don’t want to interfere with another country’s election but since I’m well-acquainted with President Bush, I want him to carry on.”
So for Mr. Koizumi, it looks like a celebratory reservation of a table for one.

At the same time, when over half of the US wants Bush in office, doesn’t its seem like hungry foreign media is the real reason no one outside of the US likes Bush, but there are plenty inside? People outside of the US really shouldn’t be so concerned with American politics when they only have a snapshot of one issue and not the entire scope of things. The majority of anti-Bushers use the war as their major problem with the current president, but it probably has more to do with the fact that he often makes errors in his speech and he looks like a baffoon, he’s not slick and instead looks like an idiot. After all its easy and fun to slander someone who looks absolutely incompetent, even if we grasp no real understanmding of his plans or stances on issues.
I agree Bush looks stupid, but I don’t think the two candidates are different at all outside of their presentation, so either way it goes the US will be staying pretty much the same.
Couldn’t disagree more. I actually followed both candidate’s campaigns and it was clear they were very different people. There are very real implications for who goes into the Supreme Court, whether or not Democrats (as a party) take ownership of Iraq, taxes, social security, etc… If you watched the debates you saw the difference….
The fact that the candidates are similar isn’t the main point of my above statement….
But, really they’re not much different. I watched the debates and they were arguing more about nuances then vastly different ideologies. Either way, the Legislative branch is now completely and utterly controled by Republicans, who are the people who would actually make the changes (if they felt like it) and most liekely, if Kerry trie to do anything drastic, they would dilude it to the point that it would be the same as any other piece of legislature passed recently. Its all homeginzed to a middling compromise. So the two different candidates wouldn’t even have the chance to be much different. The one thing that might be vastly different is if Bush decides to start any more wars (which he probably will not considering the poor reaction this one)…but we’ll have to wait and see about that.
But you know, I didn’t vote for Bush, so I’m not defending him, I just hope next time we’ll have more distinguishable candidates.
