Cheers. Yeah, waking up with a hangover is bad at the best of times, but waking up with a hangover in public, and on a pile of rubbish, has got to bad beyond belief…
By the looks of the poster behind your subject, I’m assuming this wasn’t the best of of neighborhoods? Btw how often to find these types? Do they appear more often during certain times of the years? I’d assume now as the new work year starts and during the bonenkai season.
Yeah, it’s Kabukicho, Shinjuku’s big red light district. Well, not quite so big nowadays as more and more tourist friendly ventures move in, but it’s still an interesting place.
Surprisingly often to be honest, although invariably it’s on a Saturday morning/afternoon. Clearly Friday night is a big one for both visitors and the area’s workers.
While I have seen them during winter, it’s generally from spring onwards that the numbers increase. Clearly an uncomfortable and public sleeping place is bearable, but a cold, uncomfortable and public sleeping place is isn’t!
