After a month away, returning to Japan towards the end of August makes the heat and humidity seem all the more intense. An unrelenting presence that wears one down and makes lethargy — not to mention constant sweating — the norm.
A situation that somewhat inevitably requires copious amounts of cold booze to cope, although when combined together, there can be complications.
Martin says
Only a couple more steps to the coffee machine. Lol!
Lee says
Yes. So near, and yet so far!
Charlie Hayward says
I like how his left hand seems to be extending toward the machine. It’s as though he passed out while making one last ditch effort to reach the machine.
Lee says
Yeah.
Just. A bit. Further… …
Hans ter Horst says
Seems to have happened more often, somebody had the traffic cone on stand-by and put it out, I do like that casual approach. In the UK there would have been police on the scene and things would have become ugly.
Lee says
Yeah, the cone is a great touch!
That’s very true. Not good that they were in such a sorry state, but good they can sleep it off both in peace and safety.
Willy says
I always found that decline out of Japanese summer into the winter to feel kind of rapid… so i guess taking an opportunity to uncoil locally on ‘t footpath and solarization fulla bowze.. we have to admit.. the impetus is sometimes visited upon us.. .floppy …actually maybe not me personally but…well, at least you would think creature comforts.. .超ã®ã‚“ã³ã‚Šæ´¾
Lee says
Yeah, it’s totally understandable. Although like you say, completely relaxing without any comforts at all may be pushing things a little bit.
And agreed. Despite the regular boast of Japan’s distinct 4 seasons, autumn seems to be getting shorter and shorter. A real shame considering it’s such a beautiful time of year.
Charlie Hayward says
I wonder, does anyone go along and check their pulses? You know, just to make sure no one is actually dead? 😛
Lee says
Probably not. I guess the assumption is that they are simply drunk. And anyway, you can often hear them snoring!
winnie says
I thought the cone belong to the police station because it is labelled.
Did he use as bolster?
Hope he will not catch a cold too.But he might get sunburn.
Overhere in Singapore, it always summer with unpredictable scattered thunderstorm.
At least, when in Japan, I could still feel the breeze or cooling at night during summer. Here, h hot and humid.
Lee says
Maybe. Not sure. It could have been placed there, or it just happened to be there, I really don’t know.
Sunburn would be his biggest danger, as it’s still very hot and humid here too. Not much in the way of cool breezes yet unfortunately.
David says
Even when passing out, the shoes must be carefully placed aside. ^^;
Lee says
Indeed. Sleeping on the street is a bit uncouth, but doing so with one’s shoes on is simply out of the question!
Jeffrey says
Lee, excuse me for being the crude one here, but is that a man or woman there in the crop top?
Lee says
Definitely a man. The rolled up t-shirt is what confuses — I think!
Jeffrey says
Well, that and what looks like lipstick.
Lee says
Er, um, yeah, and the lipstick. Simply another sign of a truly mammoth night out.
Perhaps…
Jeffrey says
You need a “Like” button.
merger says
police should give him parking ticket.
Lee says
Haha! If they could, I’m sure they would have.
