Rainy season arrived late in Tokyo this year, but early summer definitely made its presence felt with higher than average temperatures and humidity rapidly reaching uncomfortable levels. In connection with that then, these are some street scenes taken over the last couple of weeks. A mixture in regards both ages and areas, with the only real constant holding them together being the conditions.

The first 3 are just delightful! π
Lee says
Thanks a lot. Very happy with those, especially the first one.

Great documentation as always, Lee. I went to Japan in the summer once. I will never make that mistake again.
Lee says
Thank you very much. Yeah, itβs not much fun at all. Just relentless. And even worse these days as summer is getting longer and longerβ¦

Iconic! That school girl photo says it all. Thank you.
Lee says
Thank you very much. Been trying to get a photo I liked in that spot for ages, so happy to finally get one Iβm happy with.

If there’s a Heaven, this is what it looks like to me.
What is that place with the pink painted wall? Took me a moment to figure out what was up there.
Lee says
Thank you. Looks like heaven but sadly often feels like hell!
Ah, that was one is something a bit different. Itβs outside a trick art museum, hence the appearance.

The Japanese summer is awful. And this is the beginning… ζ―ζ₯γζ―ζ₯ζγγͺγγπ
But your photos are always great. Thank you so much.
Lee says
You are welcome, and thank you very much. But yeah, merely the beginning. A long way to go yet, and time for it to get a lot hotter…
cdilla says
I like them all – partly because I can see but not feel the heat π
The first and last are marvelous with the single figure against the intricate colourful patchwork backdrop of everyday life. Recalling my own long walks to school I teckon that girl is watching her shadow and playing some kind of game with it and the pale pavement strip.
The randoseru is such an iconic everyday sight in Tokyo, and with Mrs cdilla being a primary teacher we did get one from the conosaki shop in the 2k540 Aki-Oka under tracks mall north of Akihabara. Not so cute a colour as the one you captured here though.
Lee says
Yeah, seeing it but not feeling it is definitely the way to enjoy a Tokyo summer.
Thank you. I’ve wanted a photo of those buildings in the first frame for ages, but it has never been the right light, or included the right person passing by, so very happy to have got this one. Even better there was no waiting involved at all. We both walked by at exactly the same time.
Also, I suspect the buildings in the last photo won’t be there for that much longer, so the more photos I can get there the better.

Three smiles in number three!
The last photo; at least now the rain has gone it might be safer be using the white door (or leaving the bicycle there).
Lee says
Cheers, they were absolutely lovely. Yeah. although I suspect that door hasn’t been used for quite some time.
