For any of you that thought a fruit bowl was adequate in regards to fruit storage had better think again. At least as far as bananas go anyway.
Yes, if you want to keep your favourite yellow fruit in tiptop condition, a Banana Stand is the only way to go.
And if you look closely at the box, you’ll see that it even doubles up as a grape holder too. Fantastic!
What are you waiting for?

They sell those in the States as well, although they’re not common. They actually do serve a useful purpose.

I can’t believe you don’t own a banana hanger already. Ripening bananas give off chemicals that encourage other fruit to ripen prematurely – so the further away they are kept (preferabley on their own stand) the better.
Plus, like game, when they turn black and fall off the stand they are ready for inclusion in banana bread.

It seems when it comes to the storage of fruit I have a lot to learn!

I came to this site compltely by accident and am really enjoying the archives (I’ve read just about all of it). How come there’s no pictures or stories about your neighborhood or apt. building or what not? I’m curious to see what real life is like in Tokyo.

Hi Andrej
Unfortunately my apartment (and my day-to-day life for that matter) wouldn’t make for particularly interesting posts. My neighbourhood is generally unexciting too, although the pictures in the next post were taken on the street I live on.
Not sure they constitute “exciting” though!

yep, you can uby them at stores like ‘linenes and things’ stateside…
they also have ones that are simply long plastic hooks that attach to the wall and fold away when bananaless.
