“I wanted money, I could not refuse after being asked.” A 15-year-old boy’s ‘justification’ for allegedly killing his friend’s mother, after the 46-year-old woman’s son offered him a 300,000 yen (1,345 pound) payment.â€
The 16-year-old son involved in the murder is suspected of talking to his friend about the crime in early August, with police officers confirming that the woman was stabbed to death last Sunday at around 10pm in Wakkanai, Hokkaido.
Due to their ages neither boy can be named, but the son is said to have confessed to investigators that he was unhappy with his mother following his parent’s divorce, telling officers, “When I talked about my father, my mother always came to his defense, so I grew to hate my mother as well.â€
Whether similar retribution was planned for the father has yet to be disclosed.

You said, “What retribution was planned for the father has yet to be disclosed. ”
What does this imply? Is the father held responsible for the child’s act? Very interesting!

I meant it in regards to his hatred of his father too, which seems to have been festering for longer than the dislike of his mother: “I grew to hate my mother as well.”
Considering what happenned to the mother, it seems reasonably fair to assume that similar acts had been considered in regards to the father.
I hadn’t really made that very clear though, so I’ve edited the post a bit.

I have to wonder what is changing in Japanese culture to cause an increase in this sort of killing. Are video games and T.V. desensitizing people to violence and undermining the value of life to an extent that a kid thinks a life is worth 300,000 yen? Or is this part of the increase in nuclear families and the erosion of community?
The 15-year-old who couldn’t refuse because he was offered ‘so much’ money is a sad, sad case of someone who has grown up lacking a sense of morality and empathy. The 16-year-old kid who he contracted with is in little better shape but he had a more understandable reason (if not any better morality).
