Big and shiny buildings may well be sprouting up all over town, but even on dark, damp afternoons, Tokyo’s narrow little alleyways remain considerably more compelling.

If you can see this I guess it’s working! 😉
Cool shot. Looks like a great place to explore!

Good to see!
Cheers. Yeah, it really is. An interesting little spot.

I love those alleys full of interesting looking eateries (and bars) which often have wonderful smells wafting about them too! ;b

Likewise. Fortunately most of them remain busy, so all being well they’ll continue to survive.

Ha, you were happy but not sure the man in the shot was! 😉

No, perhaps not!

Nice. Really captures the feel of how inviting these joints are – especially on a rainy day. Makes me want to jump right into the photo, duck into that shop and order a steaming bowl of Tanmen. I wonder if that fellow was coming, or going. My guess is he hasn’t eaten yet – doesn’t have that satisfied, all’s right with the world now that I’ve had lunch look LOL
Ran across this website http://www.shinjuku-omoide.com/english/ with some detail on the joints in Shinjuku’s Omoide Yokocho. Maybe it’ll be useful to some folks? http://i.imgur.com/7NUvBX5.jpg just before the lunch rush.

Cheers. They are wonderful places/areas. aren’t they? And like you say, especially so in the rain.
Sadly can’t say either way. He was there when I turned the corner. But I also suspect not. Perhaps he was waiting impatiently for a delayed colleague.
Thanks. Could well be. Most seem to have English menus nowadays, but I imagine it could still be quite daunting without any idea about what each place serves.

Wonderful! I love all the little back streets. Always so much more interesting than the main strips.

Thanks! Likewise. No matter where I am, my main thought is to get off the main streets as quickly as possible.
