It may well have only been the Tokyo Bay area, but vast expanses of water definitely make the mind wander.
Sometimes maybe even wandering as far as a little wistfulness.

Every time I see the wonderful old folks you photograph, I think “The things they must have seen in their day.” And then I remember, “Oh, yeah. I’m getting old, too!”
These are two great photographs. I remember the guy on the second photo but I can’t recall the one on the first one. It was a great trip on Sumida river.
They could also be summarized under the theme “the old man and the sea…”
