With the picture taking pandemonium that is cherry blossom season now not so far away, the earlier appearing petals of the plum tree kindly offer the capital’s hordes of camera-wielding hobbyists the perfect opportunity for some practice, meaning that no suitably flowering tree in Tokyo is free from attention — and that attention, more often than not, is of the meticulous variety,
with a perfect picture the main priority.
For a few others, however, it’s a somewhat slightly more casual affair, with simply the fragrant flowers,
a fairly decent photo,
and fending off flu much more to the fore.
But when all is said and done, and the somewhat forced cynicism is set aside, the effect is undeniably rather fetching, although such photos really aren’t my forte.

Nice shots of people getting shots. Sure that guy
with the mask is a pollen-allergy sufferer. Dedication, eh?
Lee says
Cheers Billy. As Bunny points out below, there are plenty of flower pictures in the world, so it was the people out looking for pictures that fascinated me the most.
Good point about the masked-fella being an allergy sufferer. With all the hoo-ha over swine flu, rather strangely it hadn’t even occurred to me that he may simply be allergic to pollen!
Bunny says
Just world the world needs: More photographs of flowers.
Love your work, mind you.

Darn Billy, you beat me to it.
My wife can’t do the hanami thing because of allergies.

Dunno if you take requests Lee, but I think it would be interesting if you found a haikyo with blossoming cherry trees. You could probably get some interesting and stark contrasting photos.
Lee says
That’s a really good idea Tyler, and I agree, the contrast would be fascinating. The difficult part is finding one. Thinking about it there’s actually a place near me that would be ideal, but I’m not sure if there are cherry trees nearby. I’ll check it out soon and see.

Promise? ^_^ I can’t wait. As for this set, I think it’s a fantastic documentation of your fellow shutterbugs in action. Something often overlooked.

It’s amazing to see so many Japanese folks are able to enjoy simple beauty of these flowers. Such things are hardly ever attract attention in our neck of the woods.

Ah, I see. Plum blossoms are practice blossoms.
