It is. Photographed it numerous times. A very photogenic little place. Somewhere I pass often as well, so always have a look to see if it’s worth another shot.
incredible shot! can’t believe that im going to be there the next week. (im from argentina)
the people are photo friendly in this kind of old/traditional places?
really love the ambient that you catch in your pics.
Generally, yes. I tend to get settled in first and see how the people are/what the atmosphere is, then take it from there. Just keep it fairly discreet and don’t overdo it by constantly firing off shots and you should be ok
I love your photographs of this place. This one really unfolds the layout and gives a splendid view of those lamps.
The cozier and busier ones are my favourites though.
Your portfolio page needs a new section methinks: The Lamp 🙂

Those ‘Plan 9’ light fittings could put anyone off smoking (or changing the bulbs)!
Lee says
I know eh? Incredible things. But yeah, you wouldn’t want to be there when a bulb goes…

Is this the same place you’ve photographed before showing the dirtier angle of the lights?

Very cool. Great angle too. My kinda place! 🙂

Cheers. It’s a bit special, isn’t it?

Yokocho Omoide? I think i shot that same bar when i was in town back in June. I could never forget those lamps…
Lee says
Yeah, that’s the spot. A few of the other bars have changed over time, but this one thankfully remains just the same.
And those lamps are something else, aren’t they? Can’t imagine there are many more quite like that.

Aaaaah. Back to Kabuto, I see… 🙂
Do you eat much there, Lee? If I lived near the Shinjuku area, I could see myself doing so at least once a month… ;b
Lee says
Indeed! Impossible to resist photographing this place.
Nah, I don’t. It’s usually early or mid-afternoon when I pass by, and generally have other places I still want to got to or walk around.

Cheers. It’s genuinely a great place to photograph. So much to take in, and lovely, slightly muted colours too.
Haha, quite possibly. That lamp probably deserves a whole site of its own, rather than a mere section!
