Tokyo is well known for its vast urban sprawl, but head out to the far west of the city, and it’s not only green, but also mountainous. An area that, along with those aforementioned mountains, is home to a couple of long disused cable cars and an abandoned train line with some wonderfully atmospheric tunnels.
To completely escape the concrete and crowds, however, one needn’t venture that far, as a good way before the mountains, and not far at all from the capital’s customary tower blocks, are scenes like the ones below. Little pockets of calm and natural colour that are worlds away from what Tokyo is synonymous with.

I love the colors. So not my image of Tokyo! Looks hot…….. 😮

It really doesn’t feel like Tokyo either, so very nice to have just a cycle ride away. But yeah, hot. Very hot…

What a beautiful set of images. An incredible sky, and such bright greens. Even the mud has an appealing tawny glisten to it.
There is something calming about the parallel rows of rice seedlings stretching into the distance, and then at a larger scale the regularity of the paddys. Though I don’t doubt it is damn hard work for the farmers, even with a splendid Kubota GB16 Glideshift 🙂
Lee says
Cheers. Yeah, the colours here at this time of year really are wonderfully bright and vivid.
Haha, you clearly know your Glideshifts!
It did look hard work. Especially so in the heat. But they all seemed really happy to be out there. Big time of the year for them I suppose.

Picure postcardy. I wonder if the bucolic Kubota throb and faint whiff of city fumes will soon be exchanged for the silent glidding of torquey battery operated machinery to a backdrop of calling curlews and fading jet trails.
That last image does suggest lost keys though, rather than soon to be lost technology.
Lee says
Yeah, that’s a good call. More than likely. Eventually, anyway.
Haha, that’s so true. Hard to see it as anything else now!
