The look and looks of a little Tokyo bar over six years
These photographs were taken between 2014 and 2020. A period of time that has seen Tokyo undergo huge changes, and yet this bar at least looks exactly the same, with even the looks emanating from it remaining surprisingly consistent.

These are soooo atmospheric and I love the hats! 🙂
I must admit to wondering whether we could detect changes if the photos were in color… In the meantime, I find it interesting that a good number of the clientele appear to be older than the bar staff!
That’s a good call, but I’m happy to confirm that it hasn’t changed at all. The only jarring thing about it for me is the air-con unit, but that’s obviously been there a while, and it’s obviously essential for a good few months of the year as well.
Yes, quite a contrast to many traditional little places!
Yes, it’s definitely not all change, change, change. Nah, they were all fine. Plus I didn’t hang about waiting/watching. It was one press of the shutter, a smile and a nod, then I was away.

Some things just don’t change in Japan! Did any of the customers hassle you about taking the photos?
