The last time I went to Kabuto (sadly, more than a year ago now), a fellow got so tipsy he fell off his stool! Although he was bleeding a bit, he went ahead and sat himself on the “righted” stool and proceeded to act like nothing unusual had happened. Everyone at the bar/eatery pretended like nothing happened… until after he left after finishing his drink, whereupon there was a great flurry of discussion and comic miming of his fall…. ;b

There is a great appeal to being a part of the regular community at a bar like this. The less frills the better.
They seem fewer and further between in the UK, even in a village like ours, where every brightly lit offering has a pervasive corporate branding, the same bland selection of drinks, and when there is food it is soulless reheated stuff supplied by whatever local caterer supplied the lowest bid.
In fact the only thing remarkable about them are the prices they charge.

Yeah, I noticed that when I was back over the summer. So many pubs have closed too. A part of life in Britain I really liked. Times change. There’s no denying that. But once gone, those places will never return, and its sad to see a once integral part of life/the community slowly fade away…
