Traditional Japanese festivals are always worth seeing as there’s a unique energy that makes each and every one of them enjoyable. But for those involved, the effort to create that dynamic can clearly be exhausting.

I’ve always enjoyed these festivals myself because each of them seem to have their own special and unique traits that reflect that local area. My local matsuri is always a spectacle because they have to carry the mikoshi up a giant hill: http://mikiyama.co.jp/sightseeing/maturi
This is the first time for me to see a woman carrying the Mikoshi with men. Have you seen this before? I really like the colors in this picture too by the way. The more I look at this the more 3D it becomes. Excellent!:)

Yeah, totally agree. Your local one looks especially interesting. Never seen anything like that before. Must be quite a spectacle to say the least.
Oh, I never thought of it being unusual. I’ve seen women involved in the carrying many times. Both young and older. Wonder if it’s a regional thing?
Thanks! The light was tricky, but it came out quite interesting. And yeah, it does have a certain depth, doesn’t it?

Wow these are incredible expressions you have captured. I totally feel for the lady. She looks so exhausted! 😮

Thank you. That’s certainly what I was hoping for. And yeah, she really did look to be struggling…

It occurs to me they would all probably do very well in BUDS.

Yes, having watched a bit of that, they probably could.
