I have no idea to be honest. Saw her from some distance away across the street. Well, quite a busy road actually. And she was just standing there staring. Never moving her gaze. Now it could have been something innocent, or even nice like Al mentioned above. But personally I didn’t get that impression, although I have no proof either way. Just a feeling.
Another great photograph that draws you in to wondering what the story is. I thought figuring what she was looking at would help. I found some similar buildings around Sumiyoshi, but not the exact one. I did find some great distance views of the Sky Tree from there though.

She does look sad, but I’ve decided she’s looking out for her grandchildren who are going to visit! 🙂

That’s a nice, positive way of looking at it. Certainly cheerier than what I thought. Let’s hope that was indeed the case.

Lee what was the underlying story with her?

In most other circumstances the cat could be overdue.
Lee says
That’s very true. Could easily be something as commonplace as that.

Thank you. I always like it when the photo hints at a story, but at the same time it’s a story that is completely unknown.
It was taken not far from Asakusa. Heading roughly in the direction of Minami-Senju. Although exactly where I’m not sure myself.

Could be a nice subject for a painting by Edward Hopper.
Lee says
Ah, hadn’t thought of that. But yeah, a lone figure staring (perhaps forlornly) into the distance could have been a good subject.
