If you are going to go for a particular look, it’s probably worth doing properly, and that’s exactly what this immaculately turned out Tokyo rockabilly has done. His pristine-right-down-to-the-purple-lining-of-his-coat appearance making him seem almost alien-like in the cluttered, cobbled together nature of his surroundings.
Al says
Now that’s a man who cares about how he looks!
Lee says
He does indeed. Although on the other hand, he didn’t care much for me taking a picture of how good he looks…
John says
Wow, that’s real dedication. That’s a pretty impressive quiff. I just wish I had that much hair!
Lee says
It is, isn’t it? Bit hard to see on a photo this size, but he actually shaves off some of the hair on his temple to get the desired hairline. That’s pretty confident in my less than youthful books — arrogant even.
Lizzy says
Impressive!! Since you pointed it out, I can see where he shaved the hairline. That is dedication. Like they say, “You’re only young once”, right? 😉
Lee says
You are — sadly!
Just hope he doesn’t come to regret his head shaving in a few years!
Jeffrey says
He’s relatively young, too. Most of those guys seem to be in their 40s and 50s.
Lee says
Yeah, that’s a good call. He’s certainly a lot younger — and has a lot more hair — than the rockabilly contingent in Yoyogi Park.
Bernadette Marchetti says
The first thing I thought when I saw the picture was ã‹ã£ã“ã„ã„ï¼It just seems like the thing to say about someone dressed up like that. That is one brilliantly executed pompadour! I expect him to pull out a hand-rolled cigarette next.
I love his absolutely perfect expression of casual yet haughty aloofness. He’s not that bad looking. However, I’d be willing to bet that he spends more money on his appearance in one month than I would in three years.
Lee says
It is, isn’t it? A lot of effort went into growing and sculpting that.
Haha, I wouldn’t doubt that. Can only imagine how long it takes him to get ready.
Renita says
I like the contrast of the rockabilly with the lady in the Moto-Puffy jacket and the bike. Both items I bet he wouldn’t be seen with!!!! Great contrast; was it planned or a happy circumstance???
Lee says
Quite a difference, isn’t it? No, pretty sure he wouldn’t even go to the corner shop in a jacket like that!
It was a chance encounter. One of those wonderful moments when someone incredibly interesting looking is walking towards you.
Hans ter Horst says
LOL, he didn’t liked to be photographed? If you dress up like that, if you decide to stick out you’ll have to expect people to snap a photo 🙂
Lee says
No, not in the slightest. He let me know with a very dirty look and a few muttered words. But yeah, he’s got to expect to get noticed at the very least.
Squidpuppy says
It’s funny, but now days it seems to me the natural place for rockabilly types _is_ Tokyo LOL It’s the place I’d be least surprised to run across one.
Lee says
Haha, that’s oddly very very true!
Marcin says
Daaamn, dude got some style!
It’s kind of wierd that he didn’t want to be photographed though. I mean, if you go out looking like that you’re not exactly trying to blend in the background? You’ve got to expect some people will want to snag a quick picture here and there…
Lee says
He has, hasn’t he? A very striking individual.
Quite possibly the fact that I took the picture without asking him. Although that said, I got the distinct impression that if I had asked, he still wouldn’t have agreed.
Matt Talbot says
He probably wouldn’t have minded a hot girl taking his picture. You, on the other hand, Lee…
Lee says
No, that’s very true!
