Nice ๐ their white clothing really stands out against the red, doesnโt it?:) how was silver week in the Tokyo area by the way? Tourist locations in Kansai did have some people, but nothing like it would if things were normal. It was pleasant to walk around Kyoto with so few people. Stay safe in your area.
Cheers. Yes, they really do. Nice that their yukata match the background as well.
Silver week marked what seems to have been a huge shift in attitude here in Tokyo. Everywhere was packed. Pretty much just like it was before the pandemic to be honest — minus the foreign tourists of course. The lowering of the alert level and the easing of (or set to be eased) restrictions has clearly given people the confidence to get out and about again. That said, it was pretty much universal mask wearing. Both inside and outside. The odd one or two that weren’t wearing them really stood out.
Just have to hope now that it doesn’t lead to more spikes and a repeat of the stricter measures. But with masks in use, and more or less all establishments having safety measures in place, that hopefully won’t happen. We will just have to wait and see.
Interesting to hear Kansai was quite different. Perhaps everyone thought Kyoto might be super busy again and so didn’t go? Either way, glad to hear you had a good day out there. Must be so different without the crowds.
Thanks, you too. Look after yourself, and enjoy the relative peace and quiet while it lasts!
I like the way you have the only strong feature of the background running precisley through both sets of eyes.
That uniform vermillion blast contrasts well with the delicate complexity of the subjects. The colour of life enveloping and tracing through the garb of the yound women makes the scene feel as if it is in full sunlight. Definitely a front cover contender.
Cheers. Must admit though that was just how it worked out. Didn’t have much time to think about it at all. A quick shot, the glare, and then happily a smile straight after. But yeah, that backdrop is really quite something. Perfect really considering their outfits. It’s added little stains/imperfections I like too.

This lady is so positive. Makes me smile!

She was. After taking the photo, I smiled, just as she smiled back after her initial surprise, which made the brief interaction all the better!
