It was a terribly dull and grey day, but the contentment on the streets was clearly contagious.

I would have thought maybe they’d been out with some beers, but upon closer inspection they’re all drinking Red Bull. I guess that explains it all!;) that being said this would be a perfect advertisement for Red Bull here.; turns even the dreariest of salarymen into exciting, energetic bucks. Beautiful colors on the wall btw.
It’s not often one of your photographs make me break into a wide grin every time it pops up. Wonderful. Such a contrast to the usual grim expressions of salarymen.
The lion with the sunny disposition looking right at you is the prefect hub for all the happiness.
Thanks. Yes, something of a rarity eh? But like you said, a rarity both for my photographs, and salary men in particular. It was a genuinely nice moment, so one I was very happy to capture. And yeah, the lion really sums it up, doesn’t he?
They do look like job hunters, don’t they, but it isn’t that season at the moment. With that in mind, my guess is they are fairly new recruits out on a training day or something. Whatever the reason though, they were certainly a happy bunch.
Thanks! Yeah, I was as happy as the fella in the photo when I realised I’d caught that moment. One of those lucky little extras that comes along every now and again.
Nice to see so many smiling and laughing faces in a single photo. I just returned from Phuket and saw fewer smiling faces in my four days there than in this one Tokyo photo!
I know! At the same time, there appeared to be far more non-Thais (particularly Russians and Mainland Chinese) in Phuket than Thais. That’s undoubtedly a situation that won’t make that many people happy!

I know eh? Even though it was morning, I initially thought the same thing. But they were clearly wired rather than wasted!
Cheers. It was the wall and the jolly animals that first caught my, then the similarly jolly young salary men walked into the frame.

I can’t stop smiling at the laughing man and crocodile! That was totally what I needed right now.Thank you! 🙂

You are very welcome. I honestly didn’t realise I had them both laughing until I got home, so it was a very nice surprise to say the least.

that looks like a mural that I would walk by going to school in Fukuoka everyday!

How nice would it be if it was the same artist? Unlikely, but you never know.

Blimey, more smiles in Japan than the land of smiles. That is a surprise!
