There was a lot of rain this year around peak cherry blossom time, so that, and other, more personal reasons, meant I didn’t really photograph any hanami scenes at all. I did, however, capture some suitably topical urban pinks in a favourite old setting. A photo that also provided me with an excuse to once again show the older, but similarly colourful painted sakura shot.

I love these!! 🙂

Thanks a lot. I’m especially happy with the second one.

I dunno what’s going on in the first one but #2 is awesome. Those colors!
Lee says
Cheers. Couldn’t believe it when I saw her approaching. Pretty much the perfect match. And luckily nobody else appeared in the frame. Lovely when things work out like that.

Would you say that the Lady in the first picture is talking over a headset or is she reacting to you taking a photo? They are both so authentic… the very magic of street photography.
Lee says
Thanks a lot. And yeah, those fleeting, one-off moments are always special.
She was reacting to me being at the bottom of the steps. Not what she was expecting when she turned the corner.

Not being one for the more generic sort of images, that could be three reasons to go a bit more rock, but still equally pinku. Goes welll with #2.
Japansnapping has done an alternative take also!
Lee says
Yes, they do go well together. Very different kinds of pink outfits too.
He has. We were there together at the time!
john says
Very different. The first has a ‘Fruits’ DIY look! Shame the footwear wasn’t visible.
Hah! What a co-incidence, but then he’s found that rock too.
cdilla says
‘Fruits’ oh man that takes me back. Shame it stopped.

A beautiful sight, and something I got to see and touch recently thanks to a very patient Lee 🙂
The lady in pink is very striking too, and more than an agreeable alternative to sakura.
The second shot will always, I suspect, be in my top ten of yours. Repost as many times as you like.
