After a brief look at the history of Tokyo’s Yoshiwara sex district last week, one of the most surprising things about the place, apart from its sensational selection of soaplands, is the large number of mildly amusing monikers.
From 1970s TV shows.
To 1940s films.
Along with a dash of dandyism.
Some insinuation.
And this being Japan, a considerable amount of cuteness.
Plus, perhaps inevitably, a few language lapses, whether it be some simple mistakes.
Or something much more mindboggling.

I opt for the last one, sounds more exciting than the cute.

Good to see “Redies” are welcome, but I kind of figured they wouldn’t want to go to a soapland….
Also good to see there is a hose at the ready outside Mr. Dandy. Got to make sure things are clean.

Tears are running down my face from so much laughter!!!!!! Give me some violence soap!

That’s how Japan is XD

Hmm I’m sorry about my ignorance, but why soap? Violence soap?
PeterD says
It is due to a loop hole in Japanese laws. Prostitution is illegal, but having a woman bathe you is not (hence the “soap”). And if the guy just happens to climax while being bathed, well, that isn’t illegal.
